OUR STORY
The approach to health and safety in New Zealand needed a shake up, so in 2007 two guys from the construction industry took it on.
Directors Gavin Karl and Mark Potter are highly experienced in the construction sector. Gavin spent 25 years in residential construction, from bricky to property developer. Mark had 16 years working in commercial construction, including providing systems for some of New Zealand’s biggest building projects. They know how a building site works, and they know how important it is to have a good system to keep everyone safe on site. At the time, they also knew that finding a simple yet effective health and safety system was near-on impossible!
This simple realisation was how HazardCo was born.
Since we began this business, our focus has been on creating a system that gives business owners what they want: a simple, practical way to effectively deal with health and safety in their workplace. Something that helps address the legislative and regulatory requirements, but is pragmatic and not just a mass of complicated paper work. It is all based on our philosophy of "effective simplicity".
We are confident we have created the ideal health & safety system for NZ.
While our beginnings were in the construction sector, we soon realised our approach equally applied to other sectors. So in 2013 HazardCo added solutions for the Agriculture and Horticulture sector as well as small/medium manufacturing businesses.
Both of these initiatives have been an outstanding success with key players in both sectors now using the HazardCo solution, and membership numbers quickly catching up to construction.
In 2015 we added another solution – this time for office based businesses. This is a new sector for us, and we are enjoying developing and getting this system up and running.
